How I Manage Your Design Project

The deadline is coming! As your graphic designer, I place high priority on completing your project according to the schedule in the project proposal. But how do I manage to do that? What if a project gets out of hand? To avoid pitfalls, I split your project into four phases:

  • Project Definition
  • Design Creation
  • Project Refinement
  • Delivery

Each stage is designed to address a general goal that will help the project move accordingly. So for me not to get overburdened and have all my deadlines met, it's critical to have some form of organization. Breaking your project into phases allows me to focus on one goal at a time and meet our deadline. Assuming you have already signed a contract with the established start and end dates, goal, and list of deliverables, your design project will go through these phases.

Phase # 1: Project Definition

The purpose of this phase is to collect the necessary information and to form strategic solutions. My favorite way of gathering information about your project is researching and brand auditing. It allows me to see where your business is currently and where we can take it in the future. I also establish your brand messaging and personality at this stage and have it approved and finalized for the design stage. If I did an excellent job of getting to know the project and your business in this phase, I should have a solid structure to follow.

Phase # 2: Design Creation

With the framework established, it's time to turn the words and data into a visual language. Design creation is the phase to put my solutions into visual concepts. By the end of this phase, I should have a preliminary design for you to approve.

Phase # 3: Refinement

The chosen design from the previous phase will go through a refinement phase. The improvement on the design will greatly depend on your feedback and our assessment. Once the improvement is applied, the design will be sent to you once again for approval or for the second round of refinement.

Note: Some design packages have a different number of refinement rounds. Be sure to check this before you sign a contract.

Phase # 4: Delivery

In this phase, your design project has come to an end. Once we agree and finalize the design in the previous stage, you will receive a folder together with an instruction file. The instruction file will explain the content of each folder and how to use the different types of file extensions.

Bonus Content

You may receive a short training on how to execute your brand or manage your website on your own. As a designer, my goal is also to teach you how to use your newly established brand identity or website without needing my help or spending additional money.
